For children’s novels, there are a lot of mentions of War and the idea of fate and Destiny. These gods unlike Poseidon and Zeus have no qualms about helping the Demigods every so often, especially when Zeus isn’t looking.Įventually, within the series, Percy discovers that he has a hidden destiny and starts making preparations for war. One of my favorite things about the first series is the number of times Percy comes across the many gods, specifically Apollo, Artemis, Hades, and Hermes. He even ended up causing fights with some of the more outlandish gods. In the first series, we see Percy go on his first mission, and find out more than he could ever imagine about the world and The Greek Gods who have now become his family of sorts. Myths of monsters and places that we would never imagine still being around in this modern world. The storytelling in Percy Jackson is alive and fully blended with some of the more known Greek myths and some that are less known fitting alongside the modern world. We watch his story from his point of view as he learns about his heritage and why his father was banished from seeing him because of a prophecy. Similar to the Harry Potter novels, Percy Jackson’s story starts when he’s twelve, thrown into a world he does not know of. ![]() The first series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, touched on a lot of the myths and legends of Greek mythology we all learned in classrooms.
